Whether the couple, bride’s parents, groom’s parents or friends and family… Love is always in the air and it’s wedding season again!

Here are my 5 top tips for planning a wedding. Accumulated over many wedding’s from all across Essex, the country and the World – These tips, from what I have experienced, will help make the process of planning your special day go smoothly!

1: GET ORGANISED!!!

You cannot be the Jack of all trades, you need to master ONE! Create a master resource or a list with supplier names, details and contact information.

GIRLS – If you want to be in control this is the secret weapon. Not only will you and you fiance be dominating the process. On the day, if any issues were to arise, your bridesmaids have a copy and the problems are solved before your even aware of them!

2: SOONER THAN LATER!

Do you want poor service from vendors, second best venues or not enough food?

OF COURSE NOT!!!

From a photography point of view, in Essex and all across England, photographers are booked over 1-2 Years prior to the wedding! Definitely exceptions can be made, but I wouldn’t take the risk.

If I were you, I would start well before the 3 month mark and never leave things to the last minute!

Beginning with plenty of time to spare, will not only give you the first dibs on vendors but will certainly reduce the whole stress and anxiety of planning and will make the process a lot more enjoyable.

If only one tip to help you plan a wedding … This will help you bring you dream day to a reality!

3. FUN & GAMES

We get so hung up on the so called stress of planning a wedding… And believe me it can be really stressful.

It’s so easy to get consumed by the whole experience, you can forget the reason why you are doing this! ( LOVE! )

It’s a dream!!! Whenever in your life have you had the opportunity to try on dresses and jewellery, like a princess, or go out with your true friends and have the night you will never forget!

I’ll tell you, this period you are going through, will be one you truly never forget 🙂

4. 68% DON'T THINK ABOUT LIGHTING!

In order to create the right atmosphere and mood at your wedding, consider how the light will make people feel.

A minimalist candle light room, may give the sense of romance! An open fire, may make your guests feel as if the inside is the great outdoors..

Or perhaps you just want to party, then lasers and strobes will make your guests feel like they’re in a night club… having a good time!

It can be low- cost. For example up lighters and candles can be sourced or borrowed.

Be sure not to forget the outside – out door lanterns are really cheap and look absolutely amazing.

From a photographers perspective – in the images the more lights, the more the party feels alive!

5. MAKE IT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR GROOM!!!

Guests love to attend weddings that are personal and unique. So many couples not only follow traditions but copy the exact same day as their cousin or sister. Guests want to have a good time and be pleasantly surprised and see your character and personality through the wedding day.

It may be quirky and it may be different, but it’s yours … therefore it should definitely be memorable.

This is your day, it is there to celebrate your future, with the person you love!

6: ONE FOR LUCK

Love can’t wait… If budgets are tight, I would recommend that clients spend a little bit less on elements such as wedding cars… perhaps you could ask a favour?

However, be sure to get the reception looking right, as this is where you and your guests will be spending the most time.

Also, invest in a good photographer so that the memories that have been captured, will live on for centuries to come!!
